Antique and Classic Wooden Boat
Restoration, Repair, Refinishing, Building and Sales

Woodwind Yachts Restoration Project
TYPE: 1950's 15' Peterborough Cedarstrip Runabout

OWNER: David Rein, Michigan, U.S.A.

PROJECT: Remove and replace approx. 50 ribs, 11 planks, lower inner stem, outer stem and keel, transom, upper transom knees, splashrails, gunwales, coamings, 1 interior seat, aft deck beam and floorboards. Remove, repair and re-install upper inner stem, inner keel, lower transom knee and decks. Completely refinish vessel inside and out with 5 coats of premium varnish.

And now the project concludes ..........

The new laminated outer stem has now been installed (but not yet cut to length) along with the new outwales and rubrails.
The original decks were salvaged and repaired as necessary. They were then varnished on the undersides and reinstalled onto the vessel.
The new oak coaming has been steam-bent and temporarily clamped onto the boat to dry.
The original decks and new coaming have now been sanded and varnished to catch up to the hull.
The "Peterborough" decal is meticulously hand painted in gold with red outline exactly as the original, prior to the final coat of varnish. (We have found that available reproduction decals are not exactly as the originals).
The interior has now been installed, along with her new cedar floorboards.
Hardware installed, she now awaits spring pickup by her owner. What a beauty! I just can't wait to see his face!

What a beauty, well worth the restoration time!
