The hull
is cleaned up and carefully sanded. The first coat of thinned varnish
is being applied to the hull.

The new
oak rudder is built and is shown here hanging, ready to be varnished.

After 6
coats of varnish and the addition of the new oak coamings and king
plank, she finally starts to come alive!

The original
steel centreboard (in the foreground) has been ground to bare metal,
rust protected, filled as required and painted. The new varnished
floorboards are standing in the background.

The finishing
touches: "Asphodel" is hand painted in gold with black outline
on the transom.

"Asphodel"
is fitted with a new trailer with long laminated cushioned bunks for
proper support, and custom spar transportation racks.

She was
transported, rigged up and displayed for thousands to view at the
Clayton Antique and Classic Boat Show, August 2002.

This photo
shows everything assembled in the beautifully varnished interior.
The display sign reads: all that remains of the original 1930's vessel
is the spars, transom, centreboard and trunk.

Shown here
rigged up on her new trailer, "Asphodel" was awarded first
place in her class! A beautiful boat indeed.
